People of Bohol, Philippines

The family escaped to Manila in the Philippines to visit some friends over the Chinese Golden Week holiday. Manila is a fantastic city ( don't let anyone tell you otherwise ! )  , just make sure you have someone on the ground to show you around to get the best out of the city.

While there we flew down to the lush island Bohol. Its a beautiful island with white sandy beaches and  very friendly people. I managed to grab a couple of hours to myself and wondered through the village adjacent to our hotel to meet some of the locals.

Ilford HP5

These were taken with my M7 on Ilford HP5 film . HP5 is a high speed medium contrast film , according to Ilford's web site it yields negatives of outstanding sharpness and fine grain under all lighting conditions and is nominally rated ISO 400.

These were taken around our neighborhood , you might recognise the first few as they were shot at the same time as I shot the photos from the Wulumuqi Lu digital post below.

Mother and Child sleeping ...can you spot the child ? ( take a closer look below the clock )

Happy Birthday Jake

Jake was 3 on Sunday. An outdoor party on the lawn in front of our apartment building ( pollution levels were low enough!  ) , a bouncy castle and lots of sugar ensured chaos with the party descending into a water fight which was perfect given the heat and humidity .Thankfully there were no broken bones.

This portrait was taken back in February, its one of my favorites of Jake , taken on Portra 160 film as the the light was fading at Bondi beach skate park , Australia. Shot wide open at f1.4 to get a reasonable shutter speed and nice subject isolation , it also captures Zac in the background looking out over the sea.
